Twin Valley Homes gritting plans

What we're going to do to make our customers' lives easier

Twin Valley Homes gritting plans

With the winter snow already making an appearance, Twin Valley Homes is taking appropriate steps to safeguard our customers and tenants around our properties.

Given the advice from current information, all paths to front entrances and car parks of main offices, sheltered courts and community centres, should have grit provided and that this would be applied by staff as soon as possible following a reasonable snow fall.

This service would only be available during normal working days and hours. The grit bins at these properties would be topped up throughout the winter season, as long as the grit can be adequately purchased. These will be classed as Category 1 areas.

In addition to this, where the company has provided grit bins around other sheltered/link schemes, these will be topped up throughout the winter season (as above).

However, this grit would not normally be spread by our staff. Should there be prolonged periods of sustained freezing this will be reassessed on an individual case basis. These will be classed as Category 2 areas.

Finally, in very extreme weather for prolonged periods, other areas of high use and of high risk factors would be examined on an individual basis, but only after the Category 1 and 2 areas had been made safe. Factors affecting this would be vulnerability of residents, logistics of travel, location and estimated usage.

Some paths may also be signed as closed should they be deemed as too high a risk to leave open, even when gritted.

Playgrounds and play areas would not be gritted and we would ask parents to use common sense during icy weather. However, fallen leaves may be cleared if deemed to be a high risk.
