IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Frozen and burst pipes
How to prevent or deal with frozen or burst pipes
" our priority is to concentrate on emergencies, gas and electrical heating repairs "
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
We are getting lots of calls from tenants about frozen pipes and how to prevent them during the very bad weather. Here is some useful advice for what you can do:
If your pipes are frozen:
• Turn off the water at the stop tap
• Keep the heating on if possible
• Open tap on lowest point i.e. sink unit
• Use fan heaters, if possible, to warm the room where the pipes are frozen and allow to defrost them
• Turn on the stop tap from time to time to see if the pipe has defrosted.
To help prevent pipes from freezing:
• If you have central heating, leave it on constant on the lowest settings to prevent freezing
• If you don't have central heating, leave your gas or electric fires on low settings and use fan or electric heaters were possible
If you have a burst:
• Turn off the water at the stop tap
• Apply gentle heat were possible
• Call the repairline and stay in until our engineer comes to repair
Twin Valley Homes will continue to operate a reduced service due to the adverse weather conditions.
Because of the adverse weather conditions and the very high number of emergency calls to our repairline, our priority is to concentrate on emergencies, gas and electrical heating repairs.
Other repair work will be re-organised for the earliest possible appointment.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
