TWIN Valley Homes has helped to provide a handy ramp for the benefit of the people in the Livesey area of Blackburn.

The ramp, which connects the All Age and Children’s Centre to Leyburn Road and the new Livesey Green estate, allows easy access for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and push chairs to and from the estate where before travellers faced a long walk around the estate to get and from the centre.

The new ramp is the result of a lot hard work by the Livesey Community Association who got the funding from Twin Valley Homes, who put in £12,500 and Blackburn with Darwen Children’s Services who put in the rest.

The ramp was officially opened by Linda Sharratt, chair of Twin Valley Homes’ Board, Cllr Florence Oldfield, Tracy Lysons, Early Years Geographical Manager and Dinah Wilson, Early Years Operational Manager, who unveiled a commemorative plaque.

Margaret Maxwell, Vice-chair of the Livesey Community Association, said: “The ramp is the result of a tremendous effort between the Livesey Community Association, Twin Valley Homes and Blackburn with Darwen Children’s Services.

“A small change has made a big difference to local people and the ramp is a very welcome addition.”

Kevin Ruth, Twin Valley Homes Executive Director, added: “We’re delighted to have been able to help with the cost of the ramp and that it has been such a great help to the people of the area.
