In the last few months, we've been speaking with a
number of tenants who have had some bad luck.
Mrs K's washing machine leaked all over the downstairs
of her home, damaging lots of her stuff. Mr M's home
burnt down while he was at work. He lost most of his
possessions in the fire and the water from the fire
service damaged those that were left. Neither of these
customers was insured and they have no way of quickly
replacing personal items and furniture.
It costs more than you might think to replace your
stuff. A TV - say £400? Stereo costing £250?
DVD or video - another £150? Then there are carpets,
furniture, clothes, jewellery, cameras... ; and so on.
Many tenants have told us they don't have insurance
for the things inside their home because it's too expensive.
Some tell us that insurance companies won't insure homes
in their postcodes, while others mistakenly believe
that Twin Valley Homes will replace personal items and
furniture in the case of fire or flood. We don't! We
only insure the actual building.
Twin Valley Homes and Norwich Union - together we're
stronger!
As usual if we can help, we will - so we've done an
exclusive deal with Norwich Union, to run a home contents
insurance scheme especially for our tenants. Norwich
Union is a leader in home insurance - so this is no
half-baked cowboy scheme. Cover is tailor-made for Twin
Valley Homes customers and you can pay us weekly as
part of you rent from as little as £1.17 a week,
if you are aged 60 or over. If you are under 60, it
will cost you from £1.76 a week.
